If your car has air conditioning or climate control, as the weather gets warmer you may notice that it doesn’t seem as cool as you remember. Typically, a vehicle’s system loses around 10% performance per year, so it’s a good idea to have it serviced at least every two years. This involves safely removing all the refrigerant from the vehicle, followed by a vacuum test to check the integrity of the system. If the vehicle has suddenly lost all air conditioning this could point to a refrigerant leak. Our new equipment can pressurize the system with environmentally-friendly oxygen-free nitrogen to enable us to find the source of the loss and then carry out any remedial repairs. However, if everything looks good or once repairs have been completed, we then refill the system with the correct quantity of fresh refrigerant along with lubricating oil and a UV dye to allow us to more easily find any future leaks in the system should they occur. You may also notice an unpleasant smell when you first turn on your air conditioning or climate control. This can be caused by a build-up of bacteria deep in the vehicle’s vents. We have another piece of equipment which helps us to rid your vehicle of this issue by pumping a fine mist of a special disinfectant through the vents, ridding not only the hidden parts but also the seats and other interior trim of any unwanted guests. Once you’ve had your repairs or servicing completed, it’s always a good idea to leave the system turned on all the time, as you are less likely to have problems in the future. In addition, as the name suggests, air conditioning cleans the air inside your vehicle as well as cooling in the heat(!) of summer and dehumidifying the interior on those cold or damp mornings. An air conditioning service starts from as little as £59.99, so pop-in and see us or call for more details or to make an appointment.
It’s that time of year when the new arrivals join our vehicle rental fleet. We’re very excited to be able to offer a wider range of vehicles than ever before. Our new Ford Tourneo Custom is a very swish 9-seater people carrier which can be driven with a standard car driving licence. It’s perfect if you’re planning a trip away with family or friends. This is joined by a Mercedes A-class with manual transmission and a Volvo V40 automatic, both offering style at surprisingly affordable prices. There are also two other ‘firsts’, provided by the same vehicle; our first Lexus and our first hybrid car, a petrol-electric which is very high-tech. Our new VW Tiguan 4×4 is a great-looking vehicle, and then there are two Skoda Octavia estates, one petrol/auto and one diesel/manual, which have massive boots if you need that extra space. On top of that there is a Kia Carens 7-seater due to arrive at the end of May to complete our line-up and join our existing small and medium cars. We specialise in European travel, so if you are booking a holiday and think your vehicle is not up to the job let us give you a quote to ‘arrive in style’.
Look out in the Spar store for more additions to our local produce. One of my favourites at the moment is the range of salami from Capreolus in Dorset. They don’t even need to be stored in the fridge before opening, so you’ll find them tempting you on our Evershot Bakery display at the front of store. Don’t forget, our Spar store is open seven days a week until 8pm for all your needs.
Have a great summer and I look forward to welcoming you to Musbury Garage very soon.
